DOORS OF DEATH!
Wed Jun 05, 2019 12:44 pm
This is a game based on the Monty Hall Problem.
In a game show hosted by a certain Monty Hall, the Star Prize lay behind one of three doors. The contestant had to choose one door and then a different door (with no prize behind it) would open. The contestant then had to decide whether to keep their first choice of door, or choose the other one to open instead.
To swap or not to swap?! It's a 50/50 chance for the second choice - isn't it?
This PowerPoint version uses graphics from the Caverns of Horyd House game . It also contains a randomiser so you don't get the same sequence of slides every time.
The You Tube video and the game have not been made available to the public yet, but you can view the video and play the game from here:

(Just noticed that PowerPoint Online no longer distinguishes between PPTX and PPSX. Everything comes out as PPTX. I'll try Dropbox next time)

It is confusing at first when one clicks a door, but a different door opened instead (that acts as a mini jumpscare I suppose lol, of course I instantly remember that its an intentional design choice). And that honestly gets a reaction out of me as I jolted from the unexpected, I was then contemplating to pick another door, I'd say you got me good John.

I've re-vamped the instructions for this game as people didn't quite get what it was about.
Monty Hall hosted a gameshow called 'Let's make a deal'. It led to a mathematical problem known as 'The Monty Hall Problem'.
Here's a You Tube video of it:
This game just makes the odds work the opposite way.
I think I'll do another adjustment to have an equivalent of a goat behind the two 'safe' doors.

It's a fine idea John.
I just don't get it because I'm well... me... My brain just does its own thing.
When you said "Monty Hall", I thought Monty Python.
"We are the knights that say Ni!"!!!
I think that if the presentation was different, it would make a lot more sense. Like, if your game was a game show like the video explaining the concept. Otherwise, people are going to assume it's a normal probability game.
I'm living proof that nobody reads descriptions.
