By way of an introduction to a quick tutorial slide, here is a puzzle regarding a common problem that you can encounter when working with triggers. See if you can identify what the problem is and how you can solve it.

Please let me know if you would like to see the solution.

If I had access to the file, or if the shapes in the animation pane had more descriptive names, I'd probably figure it out.

Reason being, what's Picture 2? Picture 6? Picture 32? Etc? How about Q Rectangle 13? If I can't tell what the shape is or if it takes too long for my brain to connect the shape name to the actual shape, I'm less inclined to put effort towards identifying the problem.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I figured it's better to post this than to not say anything.

You actually have all the information that you need in the animation pane. You don't need to know what names relate to what shapes. If you knew the principle behind this problem the nature of it and the solution would be pretty clear, pretty quickly. I wouldn't have posted the puzzle if it was super-complicated to solve.

As a matter of fact I re-named the objects to help make it easier to see what was going on. I was sent these slides by a member who had the question: 'Why is the red cross still there?'  I thought it was a great example of a problem that occurs quite often. The original slide had the original basic names - some in Greek! This made no difference to seeing what the problem was.

When you work with a series of triggers, especially when you want make changes to them, you can sometimes be left with an object that mysteriously and suddenly stays in view when it shouldn't appear until triggered later.

As you mainly do VBA rather than triggers it's not a surprise that you may not have come across this problem before. When the poll was open you could have selected the last option. There is no shame in that. It simply shows openness to learning something new.

If you, or anyone else, wants a clue, it's this: 'BX'. Like many puzzles, when you find out what the solution is, you say "Is that all it is?!"

Now that you mention you didn't need to know the shape names, I'll give it another shot...

Oh. *facepalm*

You've got it!

So how can you fix it?

Only fix I know is to delete and redo all the triggers to the proper order. I'm curious what fix you have in mind.

Something like that. I wouldn't necessarily delete and redo all the triggers, just enough to get the guilty Exit animation below the object's Entrance animation. In this case, just the 'D rectangle Trigger'.

I do lots of games with a 'Reset' button to remove all previous activity (entrance animations etc) and when new objects are added to be animated and re-set, I have to re-trigger all the reset Exit animations frequently, or at least a big re-trigger at the end.

Anyway...I've added the slide with the problem and the solution below.
