We need "On Hover of" trigger feature
Fri Aug 28, 2020 3:48 am
I hope PowerPoint will soon add "On Hover of" feature to Trigger in Animations. With that, we can make hover effects to buttons in PowerPoint. If you agree, please vote here and like this topic so it will have a higher chance to be added to PowerPoint. If you have any questions/suggestions please reply here.

Voted.
I didn't know this voting facility existed, so thanks for directing us to it.
I might add a suggestion that they enable a triggered animation sequence to be copied / pasted within the animation pane for the same animations to occur by a different trigger.
An interesting side point: quite a few years ago Microsoft did something similar for Word. Apparently, 90% of the suggestions for new features were already there!

Do you mean this?

Actually you can make this happen with VBA, using PlayAnimation

But it's easier if they add to Trigger

Do you mean to be able to copy and paste animations?

Yes. I'd like to be able to copy animations from the animation pane, like the 37 animations in the picture, then paste them somewhere else in the animation pane.

OMG Yes John, I feel your pain! It was a huge frustration to have to "add more animations" just to apply it to a new trigger. When I did some complex triggered animations like yours (but not as complex as yours!) I would make sure I have all my trigger shapes present on the slide first. Then I'd make new animations in multiples of the amount of triggers I have, so that each trigger will have 1 animation for that shape. I'd get each of those animations to their respective trigger groups. Do this for all affected shapes you want animated. Finally, I'll focus on the finer details for each animation within a trigger group. It is much easier to swap out animations and such when you have the a placeholder present. Unfortunately, the animation painter doesn't work well with triggers.

Yes, that's what I do a lot of the time. Sometimes I'll copy & paste the object that's being animated, but this can be a pain too. It's a matter of which approach is the least painful.

You absolutely can do this. You just have to do it with a macro instead.
If anyone is curious, I can make a video about how to do it.

I think Microsoft needs to add non-VBA animation-copying-and-pasting, plus on-mouse-over triggers, as soon as possible!

Are you referring to Animation Painter? Because that's a thing.JadeJohnsonIndustries wrote:I think Microsoft needs to add non-VBA animation-copying-and-pasting, plus on-mouse-over triggers, as soon as possible!

No, Animation Painter doesn't let you copy-and-paste animations between-triggers (in fact, the bloody-thing doesn't even know-about or anywhere-near-otherwise-respect triggers anyway), and if an object has animations that you want to add to another one, it destructively deletes them entirely once those of another object are copied onto it.
