Bebe's Art Studio: The Video Game — Early Access (Featuring The "Paint [slash Free] Play" Demo, And More)

Update: The non-data-collecting "Initial Setup"-ProCess has been removed, as we had heard that, although actually innocuous, it had shocked members of the European Union. 

I'm working on a massive new game for my friend Bebe, who wanted a game made both for, and about, her.  She's a legendary artiste, and she wants me to help spread her talent across the PowerPoint-games-community, by having herself and me work together on a title where her atelier is destroyed by her ex-boyfriend, Patrick, who dethrones Queen Elsa of Bebe Nation in an attempt to create the ultimate distopia.  The player will aid Bebe on her quest to rebuild it, with every room's appearance up to said user's real-time customization!

There are going to be five main modes of gameplay: "Story", "Adventure", "Dojo" "Free Play", and "Paint Play".  To put-into-perspective just how massive this game will be, "Free Play"-mode literally features eight sub-modes of gameplay, all with togglable voice-acting settings!

Furthermore, there will be a mall, where you will be able to create your own clothes, jewelry, accessories, and so-on, and then (optionally) take a screenshot and upload it to Lykdat by following in-game-instructions so you can purchase your masterpiece to have shipped to your door to wear in real life!

Inside the mall, there will be a variety of stores, at which different items can be crafted.  You'll be able to walk-around each store, just like in any RPG (Role-Playing Game). 

I know this all sounds like a whole world in which to get lost-and-confused, especially for me as I develope this thing, but I just love making games in PowerPoint so very much, that the challenge is actually fun for me!

Please let me know what you think of all these various demos, do know that the final-game will be using literally every compression-trick under-the-sun to lessen storage-consumption, and as always, "Happy Jading!"

I was intrigued by the interior navigation engine. The only wa I know how to achieve this is by having transparent hyperlinks to other slides. Do have a different approach? If so I'd like to hear more about it.

Regarding the bebesartstudio game, I was intrigued about the input of so many personal details via click-through letters at the start. I realise someone can play as a 'guest' but I'm wondering why you want someone to go through a long-winded process to provide 15 types of personal information including:
- Gender (Male, Female, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender or Bisexual)
- Birth Date (To complete this I need to click through all 26 letters of the alphabet to get to the numbers - up to 8 times!)
- Love Status (Alone or In Love)
- Love Rules (PDA or 'Hands off')  (I had to Google PDA as I had no idea what it meant)

I presume that if I complete these details I will have joined something (i.e. not just a 'Guest'). It can therefore lead people to believe that this information is going to be stored and used in some way. If this is the case, I think you should be aware of GDPR COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS. JadeJohnsonIndustries(TM) could get into deep and serious trouble if you don't meet these European requirements. (It makes no difference if you are in the US - you must still comply if you may possibly have an audience in Europe - which you do.)

If you are not storing this information or using it in any way to support the game, then why have it at all?

In my first playthrough, the game crashed and became corrupted so I have to reinstall it. I hadn't been able to have a go on a second playthrough since my ppt.exe wasn't too keen on opening BAS.ppsx for some inexplicable reason, so I can only talk about what I've seen in my first playthrough. Which wouldn't be much of more than a comment, but here goes anyways.

I've only ventured on the story mode, and was greeted with a fully voice-acted prologue story. That alone has blew my mind, more so than almost any ppsx games I've seen. The only ppt game that comes close to this kind of high-tier dedication poured into it, would be Joey Tritten's "Furpocalypse" IMO. And I heard he's planning to also implement full voice-acting in his upcoming second installment of the same game, a tight competition I want to say.

Well, I too am still curious on what other features does BAS has in store. But until I can get the ppsx to work again, we'll have to wait. (I probably need to reboot the PC to open it, but I can't really do that as of right now. I multi-task a LOT, so there's a lot of things running in the background and I'm afraid the agenda of rebooting will have to wait.)

We have updated the public alpha, removing these non-data-collecting prompts.

Nailed it!  In fact, that's how I was able to incorporate the lighting into the scene without the shading getting in the way!  Wow, you're really good at knowing all the ins and outs of PowerPoint!

I used something similar for ZOMBIE SPOTLIGHT to enable the gun barrel to rotate back and forth.

Ah, so you really ARE the PowerPoint legend as whom I've always thought of you!  By the way, I love your "F1 Racing"-game!  It inspired me to have my own stab at it, which is in its pre-alpha stage right now.  So far, all's going greatly!

I think you've seen Dodgem Derby. It also works with the transparent hotspot approach, but with a twist...so you never know which dodgem car is going to win.

I HAVE seen that gameplay video!  I love that snooty-esque American female voice at the end of the vid who rubs it in players faces that they can't cheat! 

You should make it in your next video where one voice is interviewing another, to learn more about its featured game, with a kind-of inside-scoop vibe!  Heck, you could actually start a whole series, coined, "Inside PowerPoint Games"!
