Did you know that the domain video.com is officially-owned by Disney®? Anybody know for how-long that's been a thing!?

Like, that's just so dang cool! I wish I'd known that earlier: like SO-much earlier! And they even have every film sorted by genre! Friends, I'm so sorry, but I just couldn't get over this for the whole rest of the day I originally posted this (2023•01•24)! Disney is my second-favourite company of all-time!

Aw, thank you! Now if only they'd get their rumps into gear and give us that first-2023 Nintendo Direct we all crave so badly, eh?rusnakcreative wrote:Ah, should have known! Nintendo is a great answer by the way

Hmmm....interesting!
I tend to judge companies by the way they treat their employees. Nintendo of America don't seem to come out very well in this respect.
I've watched quite a few YouTube vids on the differences between the US and UK/Europe employee conditions. I'll leave it there as we don't do politics on this forum.

Valid-points, but when focusing on who's ProDucts you use the most-often, that's how I came-up-with Nintendo; plus, Nintendo Of Japan isn't as ??????? as N-O-A. Sorry, I didn't know what to call it, so I just put question-marks. Anyway, I'm a NOJ-fan, as they're from whence most of the games and hardware originate.johnr wrote:Hmmm....interesting!

As an American, (and keeping it non-political,) that has been commonplace in most companies so it isn't unique to Nintendo of America. This is why you're seeing several strikes and revolts against companies, because we have had it and deserve better working conditions and/or wages depending on company. American Airlines for example is trying to calm their employees by offering a free bowl of chili to everyone if they don't go on strike next week.

Over here it would have to be a free portion of fish and chips.

Oh gosh, I LOVE fish and chips (or for you yanks, fish and french-fries)! The reason I don't call myself a yank, even though I'm from the U.S., is because I may have an American accent when I speak, and I may write with American punctuation-rules, but I've adopted most of the written spellings and physical verbalities of the Indian (Desi) dialect of English.johnr wrote:Over here it would have to be a free portion of fish and chips.
It's why I write mixed-case spellings such as "aGain", "ProDuct", "ProGress", et-cetera: that's how I would say them if I were speaking; I do this to differentiate myself from other people with American accents, as I have a Desi girlfriend, and I do it to respect her culture, as she chooses to Americanise her voice to cope-with mine.

Be careful Jade, you are treading on thin ice here!
Chips are chips. They are not French fries and should never be described as such. French fries a skinny little blighters like you get in McDonalds (although your US ones are different than ours. Look at this from Google: The US fries have 14 ingredients, while the UK fries are restricted to potatoes, 2 kinds of oil, and (sometimes) dextrose. Notably absent from the UK fries is methylpolysiloxane, a commonly used anti-foaming agent that's also an ingredient used to make Silly Putty..
Chips on the other hand are big fat things about a centimetre square and are simply potatoes cut and fried in (usually) vegetable oil although you can get 'oven chips' that look the same but are baked. Neither versions contain Silly Putty chemicals though!
These are chips (with a piece of haddock I think):
It's common in the north of England to have your fish and chips with a portion of 'mushy peas'. Yuk! We don't have them down south.
And these are crisps:
Our invention, our name.
As for the Indian influences, 'Desi' is not a word that's used in the UK despite us having a significant percentage of the population of Indian origin. (We used to own the place as you may know. Queen Victoria was also the Empress of India). Interestingly, I have never come across any person of Indian origin that spells words with the capitalisation that you sometimes use. I always wondered why you did this - and now I know!
This is turning into an interesting thread to discuss some fascinating cultural differences!

Well anyway, I still wonder how long Disney has owned the URL video.com.
