I get a lot of adverts on You Tube for some kind of free war game where you can multiply of divide your army until the final numbers of warriors you have, fight against the computer's army and the one with the most warriors wins. (I forget what it's called).

Anyway...I thought I'd try to make a PPT version. I started with the idea of building up an army and getting it to fight an opposing army. It was all pretty mind-bending on what what I could do and how, until the concept of this game finally popped up. It's actually a bit like the final battle in the advertised game. (I'll edit this if I ever find the title again).

Edit: It's called Total Battle

The latest iteration here is the result of a few adjustments and additions. It's certainly gone through an evolutionary process to get where it is now.

There are quite a few sounds included and I hope they have all been embedded ok. You should hear:
- Intro music with the 'How to Play' slide and on the main battle slide:
- A starting war horn
- A battle cry start then swords and battle noises
- Victory music and crowd noise when you click on a flagpole

Please let me know if any of these sounds are missing.

I might add individual 'urrgh' type sounds when warriors are struck down. Please let me know if you think this would be worth it.

I like how you implemented this concept in a two-player game (I played it alone though), all sound effects worked for me. The game can slighty freeze (or be laggy), probably due to the amount of stuff happening in the screen, but it doesn't really bother since you can still spin the wheels and click on the characters like there's nothing. Overall, this is another good work of yours.

My only question is what those characters are supposed to be, their designs are... quite interesting.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear that all the sounds worked and that the lag wasn't too distracting.

The characters were evolved from those I made for my educational game WITHIN US which was based on the Among Us game which was huge at the time, and maybe still is. I wanted to have similar looking characters with minimal risk of copyright infringement.

You're a master with Pure Powerpoint and especially sounds, John! The sounds really work well and set the mood. Gameplay is also smooth and had no lags.

Did I miss a reset button - something that would take me back to the opening screen once one of the sides won?

No, no VBA. I made the warriors on the ezgif site with 2 images for each but with 3 different speeds. The rest is all triggers and animations.

Not quite that long...

Once the triggers and animations were made for each of the six warrior gifs (3 different gif speeds x the 2 warrior colours) the rest was a matter of copy / paste / resize / bring to front / send to back.

However, as you know, games evolve and this one went through quite a few stages of evolution. There were a lot of new things added as I went along like the flags (from a flag-making website) and the music and battle sounds etc. On the first few test runs of the game I felt that things weren't happening quickly enough for people playing so I added more 'hits' to the spinners.  So instead of having the original 2 blank segments to land on, I replaced one of them with 3 hits.

Usually, I call each stage of development a 'Phase' and save it so I can go back to it if I make a mess of something later on. This game was finished at Phase 15, then... Jarek's prompt to add a reset slide upped this to Phase 16.

It's doing all these kinds of adjustments and additions (and rectifying mess-ups)  that took the bulk of the time to make this game.

For the record, I started it on 11th October, published it to YouTube on 15th October then then finished it on 18th October with the reset slide. But... I can't remember how many hours per day on average I worked on it.
