MS Warning - any ideas?
Wed Sep 28, 2022 7:35 am
When I downloaded my new Spingo game from my website - this warning popped up. Any ideas why?
I used some sound files from freesound.com, but made adjustments to these and made new files for them.
Does anyone else get the same thing?

All the time, regarding external files meaning VBA and macro Powerpoint files and not references to pictures. Even my own files get blocked often when downloading them from the web. In your case I wouldn't worry with ticking "enable external content for this session". Better so, if for all sessions but then done differently. When a file is blocked due to suspicious external content that I'm sure of not being harmful, I go to the file's location, right click on the file for the pop up menu, select Properties and tick Unblock and OK (translation from Polish).

Thanks Jarek.
I don't quite understand what 'references to pictures' is referring to. It's the first time I've ever got such a message.
I used the 'Unblock' process ok but my concern is that such a message could prevent someone from downloading it from my website. I'll just have to wait and see.

John.. usually that means you're using an image placeholder and the actual image is TYPICALLY a link to a website's .jpg/.gif.
IF it's one of your own files (locally stored), as Jarek said, you may have grabbed a picture with questionable metadata attached to it. (You've got to go through the properties and stuff to look that stuff up though)

If PowerPoint is giving you security-warnings when downloading games, go to the Trust Center, and enable the tickbox that says something like, enable files to be trusted on a network. There's also a tab that says something along the lines of, Trusted Locations. Go in there, select your whole drive from the folder-list, and enable, "Include Subfolders". Haven't had an issue since!
