TENPIN BOWL Empty TENPIN BOWL

Mon Jan 15, 2018 12:08 pm
After getting a comment from Jade about my previous bowling game snippet, I thought I'd better do something with it. So I've put a few hours into it over the last few days

I posted a short video clip of what it looked like:

In this early version I thought I could work with three types of bowling spin. well, in theory it could be done, but in practice it was a nightmare. So I went with just one type of throw.

I also hoped to use Mibo's 'Toss' technique of bowling the ball, but this didn't really work for this game as well as it did for his. So I devised a different way of bowling the ball. Also managed to sync the sound effects with the action reasonably well I think, including balls down the gulley and the ambient background sounds which I used before.

There are two ways to get a strike - one by bowling the ball with a fair bit of strength (but not too much!) Or....you might get one of those low strength flukes!

Anyway, here's the game: TENPIN BOWL

Notice that I changed the name from 'Superbowl' to avoid a multi-million dollar lawsuit!

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

Very Happy  <3  <3  <3  <3  <3  Very Happy

Wow!  Your game is WAY less clunky in loading times than my "JayBowl"!  How'd you do it, and may I feature this on my own JadeShop server, PLEASE!?

But yeah, I LOVE this game!  It could not be any more well executed!  I'm totes in love with "TENPIN BOWL"!

It feels like a mobile phone app, and I might even test it on an actual smartphone to dig how well it handles!  Don't know how the mouse over controls'll work though.

Anyway, thank you, THANK you, THANK YOU!

Goodness! Thank YOU Jade! Glad you like it.

Actually, I wouldn't have finished it if it wasn't for you mentioning it on a previous post a few days ago. You've kept me busy these last 3 -4  days!!

You can feature it on your JadeShop server if you want as long as there are links to my website and this forum (or at least to this forum to which we both have allegiance)

Thanks again.

Thanks so much, and no problem!

For your game's in store page, do you think you could upload a simple, unlisted, narrated or filmed, "About This Developer" YouTube video to which your name in the title's description would link, and PM its url to me so I can convert it to a PowerPoint compatible format with a little "JadeJohnson Games Magic"?  A downloadable video file from Dropbox would be even better!

Also, what would you like your 12in high by 8in wide, 16 line, bold, size 42.98, Arial font, description box to read?  I gave you the specs so you could create and work with a draft of it in PPT beforehand.  Don't forget that we can embed links into text with normal looking syntax within the description box too.  You could even put the description into the PM with your video URL!

You're very welcome!

I like the concept you're pulling off here. Very satisfying to control the power and get those low-strength flukes.

You know what'd make for a fun additional mode? Different pin arrangements. Place a few bowling pins in a certain place, say on the left, so the player has to come up with new strategies to knock down all the pins. If this interests you, check out how the Wii Sports bowling "picking up spares" mode works.

Thanks Tim.

I had a look at some You Tube vids of 'picking up spares' - interesting stuff!

To be honest though, I'm happy that the game at the moment does what I wanted it to.

If you have an inclination to take the PPTX file for this and adapt it into a 'picking up spares' game I'd love (in all honesty) to see the outcome (no pressure to do it though). For me, I've put enough hours into this one and I'm moving on to something new - a game of SNAP!

Fair enough. If you're happy with the project the way it is, by all means leave it the way it is.

I don't see myself making a 'picking up spares' game either since I don't have the talent to make these type of games. You are the PowerPoint sports game specialist here, after all.

Looking forward to your upcoming game of SNAP!
