BLACKBEARD'S DOUBLOONS
Sat Sep 02, 2017 4:34 am
A new treasure-hunt game.
Firstly, many thanks indeed to rusnakcreative for supplying me with the coins (doubloons) and the macro for keeping the score.
After coming up with the idea for the game, I thought I would be able to finish it quite quickly - but it took quite a bit longer to make than expected as there was a lot of trial-and-error in getting the appearance of the waves to look ok and the tide to come in at a reasonable speed. I also added a totally uncessessary step to revealing all of the doubloons and pebbles - so had to go back and undo it. Duh!
This game uses a couple of PowerPoint features that can be used in many kinds of games which some people might not know about namely:
- Hiding and revealing hidden objects on clicking (e.g. the doubloons and pebbles in this game)
- Making an irregular crop to a picture
I'm going to put a couple of tutorial slides I've put together in the Tutorial section for anyone who's interested.
I have also put this game directly onto my website PowerPointgames.uk. / BLACKBEARD'S DOUBLOONS
This is the 39th game on the website and I want Target Golf to be the 40th - and have a bit of a fanfare. (The site started with 20 games back in January 2017).
There's a video of the game on You Tube:

Great graphic and play!
Although it's way of playing is quite simple, I couldn't relax for a moment while playing because of wave.
I've got 15 score. Is it possible to get 30 score?!

Thanks Mibo.
Those waves can move up the beach just when you don't want them to!
I've got up to 25 but 30 should be possible because if you can click on say 20 doubloons and 15 pebbles - then that's 35 clicks. It's just luck (or a good memory) to click on the doubloons and avoid the pebbles. As I recall, there are 4-5 doubloons that you can get in the first couple of waves (top and bottom) but you need to be quick.
And....if you want, you can download the PPTM version and move the doubloons / remove a few pebbles etc to make it a bit easier - but I hope the challenge is a good one as it stands.

I thought those coins sound familiar! I love how you have altered some of the coins to make them look like they're still partially buried in the sand, nice touch!

Wow! That's WAY better than the LAST treasure hunting SlideShowGame I played! (Just for your information, it was from UncwEdGames.)

Jeff's got nothing on John's skill and attention to detail. The other games may have been cutting edge in PowerPoint like 15 years ago. John rocks!

I agree with you!
But even THIS game, or at least alone, is no match for my "JadeShop™"! Check it out under "Home>Creative Works>Games"; you'll ALL be AMAZED!

Had a chance to play this one just now. I got 23 doubloons, and a TON of pebbles. Those pebbles are a great addition to the game, and I now see why you didn't have the whole beach clickable.

Thank you. 23 is a pretty good score and it shows that if you get a ton of pebbles, getting all 30 doubloons should be possible. It's all about getting to them before those darn waves!
