LT Meager's Entertainment Interface

I made this for a puzzle segment in a small ARG I held in another internet community very recently, but I feel that it's worth shining just by itself here as opposed to being accompanied by the rest of the ARG puzzles and lore, because I'm pretty sure I poured more love into this part than any of the other segment. As such, there will be slides meant to be the stepping stones to the next clue and wouldn't make any sense without the knowledge of previous clues, just think of it as an easter egg lol.
(for those who wants a bit of a backstory/explanation of the 'easter eggs' can scroll down to the next post where I spoilerfied them)
Your entire world consists of only 5 interconnected hallways, no doors to the outside, no one else. But there are the darkness, frequently patrolling around looking for a prey. Its anyone's guess on why they were looking for only a single human in that small box. But there must be a way out, so you hang on to that glimmer of hope, and must survive.
download thru mega.nz here
Heads up to Jarek's 3rd minigame Maze2, I was heavily inspired by it so thank you so so much for the inspiration Jarek!
Also, I like to think of it that I 'sculpted' the 'darkness' from scratch (or snake since they're identical with how vague the graphics are lol), its a daunting task to animate them continuously for 20-30 seconds of blinking every 0.2s instead of 0.25s because of how PPT can't be personalized to have them as the default number. At least, not that I knew of.

- The Ending Jargons:
- Refers to this image.
if you download the file, you can also change the extension into txt and scroll down for a lore which I'd probably just refer to as an easter egg.
Well that didn't work, the general lore is that 'we' the 'prisoner' of the hall heard a vague sound from beyond one of the walls. So we threw ourselves onto that part of the wall and managed to noclip through it. Yes, noclip through it. But the next thing you know, the sound is making your vision seeing number jargons.
Pretty ironic that I never put any sfx in the entire game.
- Counting up from 49 - Orchestra:
- Is the literal enactment of the lore
in txt file.

Reviving this thread from the dead, since I finally managed to record a gameplay showcase. The video was for my friend at first, but then I remembered this place, so why didn't I just embed it here?

I had a go.
I really like the climate this game design brings on. I like everything about it including the page layout and mono color theme. I like the flickering of the tiles and how the mechanics work. Also the fact that you managed to make it more of an action game instead of "yet another maze game". In my opinion - Very Well Done! (I won't give you a score because I don't like others scoring me )
I faced a challenge.
It was with luck I managed to pass level 1 rather than brains. My life and brain leftovers end with level 2. I am incapable of figuring out how to move and where to place my cursor when running away from the dark and while waiting for the dark to start doing its thing. I watched your video several times and still can't find any clues why you went where you went with the cursor, what to look for with the tiles behaving the way they behave, etc. I need coaching.
I got ideas.
More in-depth instructions on playing the game for the lamest of us all - me. And also - you're right about sfx and maybe some well-chosen background audio - they would add even more to an already graphically stunning scene.

Thank you for giving it a try!
Guess I can't give out scores anymore I thought that was hilarious!.
Despite me manually animating all of the Dark's movement, it does unfortunately move in a semi-random pattern. The only thing that is actually certain is how it will always slows down when passing through the middle corridor, almost as if they're stuck and is trying to wriggle their way through, but reverts to their original speed if both of them occupies the corridor at the same time. And how they sometimes entered their nest for a short while before continuing on their rampage, notice how they always comes out from the same panel.
So yeah, you can blame that unnecessary difficulty on me. Looking back on it now, I think enlarging the panel's resolution would be beneficial in the long run. Not only it allows more room for players to avoid the Dark, it also opens up the possibility of running different games and I can display more stuff as well, instead of relying on the limited 16-segment-display. But it would require an enormous amount of work, that it shudders me just thinking about it, so lets not for now.
The bland color was supposed to paint a bleak atmosphere as I was trying to depict purgatory, I think the default blue color of Office Theme's shape colors did its job pretty well.
Also also, that sfx feedback couldn't have been more accurate, I can see some potential improvement I could add here and there. Probably some day when I had enough free time to waste.
