HUNGRY HIPPOS

I think that would be fun to see the hippos lunge forward while chomping down and then retreats back to their starting position. I'm not sure how you would keep track of marbles or if the hippos ate anything, but I'm sure you could find a creative solution that still keeps the spirit of the game as you did with Mouse Trap.
I had a go. The only way I could get it to play like the original was to make it so you have to click on the marbles - not the hippos. I tried all sorts of ways to animate the hippo heads but eventually hit on the idea of making 2-picture gif files which I did through ezgif.com/maker . They don't lunge forward too far because the hippo heads would block even more access to the marbles. (Although it's something I might experiment with before an official launch)
You can download to play here: HUNGRY HIPPOS
I haven't published the game yet but probably will do in a couple of weeks.
The video also shows you how to play the game. The sounds are from a You Tube video of two people actually playing the game for real.

Love it! Even though it's not exactly the same, you still managed to capture the spirit of the game while making sure the gameplay remains just as fun and exciting. I love how the hippo heads are now more of an obstacle to avoid.
With that in mind, you could increase difficulty for harder versions by making the heads rotate around the outer circle. You could also add hit detection where on mouse over, you go to a lose slide which could keep track of lives. You could also add "bad" marbles that you don't want to touch instead of adding the hit detection on the hippos.
Overall, great job and I look forward to playing it soon!
