SEVENTH PPC CHALLENGE - Make a word game.
Sun Sep 30, 2018 4:25 am
Having just posted the CROSSWORDER game to the forum, the Seventh PPC challenge is to make a word game on PowerPoint.
Here are the rules:
1. The game must be posted to this sub-forum, not the main Games or Animation forums. (See the READ ME on how to post games etc).
2. It should be an original work, produced between now and the closing date.
3. Your game can be based on an existing word game format, or something entirely new.
4. It can be as simple or complex as you like.
5. For all you VBAers out there, please note that for this challenge there is NO VBA allowed (you deserve a break from all those programming headaches!) THIS RULE HAS BEEN REMOVED ON REQUEST OF THE VBAers!
6. The closing date for posting is around the end of October 2018 (I'm willing to be flexible on this).
7. PPC Admin staff and Featured Members are eligible to participate in this challenge.
8. This is not a competition. There are no prizes, but you might get praise and constructive feedback from staff or other members.
Have fun.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure how to devise a fun word game in PowerPoint WITHOUT the use of VBA. Your crossword game is incredible, especially since it's all based off triggered-animation and NO VBA. Using VBA will help you do all the things you would need to pre-program as a triggered event. Its like asking us to create graphics with only MS Paint when you have access to Photoshop and Illustrator. If you consider lifting the VBA ban, I know I would make a stab at coming up with a game, and at least one other game maker here.

OK...You'll be glad to hear that Rule 5 has been removed so it'll be great to see some games being submitted for the challenge. I think programming skills and abilities are similar to those needed for more advanced maths (math to you ). Some brains are more inclined towards learning them than others - mine isn't . I also think it's good for the forum to have both VBA and Non-VBA approaches represented. The game I'm working on for the challenge involves drag and drop, which I think can be done with VBA, but I'm enabling it by having the game played in Presentation mode.

Here's a sweet word game that I cooked up this past week. Some of you may have played a game similar to this before probably on your phone, but I assure you have never played this in PowerPoint. Enjoy my "Word Builder" game!

Loved it!
Eventually got the full score. I had more trouble with some of the 3-letter words than any of the others and didn't know what 'cay' meant until I looked it up - educational too!!
Slick and smooth mechanics as always.
